Our team has incorporated in 2017 two new members: Ana Sánchez Cano, a hired researcher, and Luisa Mª Martínez Sánchez, a resident of the HUVH’s Central Laboratories, both ambitioning a PhD thesis. The BIO2015-72401-EXP project has begun, in which we collaborate with the Microbiology Service and the Molecular Medical Image Group to develop a synthetic reagent to replace erythrocytes in the haemagglutination assays used worldwide to track the annual flu epidemics. We keep working in the diagnosis of stroke with the Neurovascular Disease Group (PMP15/00022) and we have been awarded the DTS17/00145 project to develop a biosensor for malaria point-of-care quantitative detection with the Microbiology Service and the Infectious Diseases Group. The group, born in 2014, was accepted as VHIR’s Emerging Group in 2016 and work began giving its fruits in 2017, when we published two articles in first quartile journals (1 D1), both with one of our researchers, Gisela Ruiz Vega, as the first author.
