The Vall d’Hebron Spine Research Unit is a growing multidisciplinary group of professionals dedicated to Spinal Disorders with an increasing impact in terms of number of publications, associated impact factor and research funding. Since 2010, we have increased the yearly published manuscripts by 80%.

In 2017 we were nominated for 4 research awards in different national and international meetings. We won 2 of them: the 2nd best podium presentation at the Annual Spanish Spine Society Meeting and the Best podium presentation at the British Association of Spinal Surgeons.

One of our research projects was granted by “La Marató de TV3” to assess the safety and effectiveness of a new nanoconjugate in acute spinal cord injury patients, and another one was granted by “Eurospine” to study the long-term psychological and functional

status of deformity patients surgically treated during adolescence. New synergies with other research centers and universities have been established. We hope to expand this network in the future.
